User Data Deletion

Option 1: Disconnect Instagram or Facebook

Disconnecting does not automatically delete previously synced media indexes, archived assets, or generated films. Those remain available in Throwback until you use Option 3.

1. Sign in to Throwback and open Connected accounts.
2. Choose Disconnect on the Instagram or Facebook card.
3. Confirm. Throwback will delete the corresponding OAuth access token and stop retrieving new content.

Option 2: Revoke access from Meta

After removal, we cannot retrieve new data from that account. Setting names may differ by region or app version. Revocation on Meta does not automatically delete data already saved by Throwback.

1. Sign in to Facebook or Instagram and open Settings and privacy.
2. Find Apps and Websites or the equivalent connected-app setting.
3. Choose Throwback and select Remove or revoke access.

Option 3: Request deletion of social data or your entire account

On the website, open Studio → Profile → Permanently delete account. In the app, use Me → Account & Privacy → Permanently delete account, or use the website. Confirming immediately disables the account and its sessions, removes social access tokens and starts background cleanup without a 30-day waiting period. Closing the page does not cancel cleanup.

If you cannot use the app, email us from your Throwback account email with the subject “Delete my Throwback data.” State whether you want us to delete only Instagram data, only Facebook data, or your complete Throwback account and associated data.

Do not email passwords, OAuth access tokens, or identity documents. We will normally verify the request through your registered email and may ask for non-sensitive account information if needed to prevent impersonation.

What we delete

• Instagram or Facebook account identifiers, connection status, permission scopes, and OAuth access tokens.
• Synced posts, photos, videos, thumbnails, captions, links, timestamps, and media indexes.
• Selected or archived creation assets, analysis results, and temporary processing files.
• Film-generation records, cloud-stored films, and associated storage indexes.
• For a full-account request, registration data, login sessions, and user preferences.

Timing and exceptions

Self-service deletion starts immediately. The status page shows completion only after cloud files and database records have been removed from active systems; failures are retried automatically. Reopen /account/deletion in the same browser to check the receipt. A minimal receipt, without your account profile, is retained for 30 days. For requests made by email, we normally respond and complete verified requests within 30 days, explaining any necessary extension.

Database backups and GCS soft-deleted copies expire according to their configured retention policies, rather than being instantly erased. They are not available through normal product features. Operational security logs follow separate restricted retention policies; already-submitted third-party AI processing is subject to the processor’s retention policy. Original posts on Facebook and Instagram are not deleted. Contact support if you need help with these residual copies or cannot access your receipt.

We may retain the minimum information required by law or needed for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or proof that we fulfilled the request. Access to such records is restricted and they are not used for normal product features.

If you cannot sign in

You can still contact us from your registered email. Explain that you cannot sign in and identify the platform you connected. We will process the request after reasonable verification.
